1. What is it?

Frusemide (also spelled Furosemide) is a loop diuretic (“water pill”).
It helps the body remove excess water and salt.

2. What is it used for?

Frusemide 40 mg is commonly used to treat:

  • Edema (swelling) due to

    • Heart failure

    • Liver disease

    • Kidney disease

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)

  • Pulmonary edema (fluid in lungs) in emergencies

  • To increase urine output in some medical conditions

  • It works on the loop of Henle in the kidney.

  • Makes the kidneys remove more salt (NaCl) and water.

  • This reduces swelling and lowers blood pressure.
